Lotus has revealed the latest in its long line of Evora specials. Called the GT410 Sport, this new model has been designed to sit below the GT430 and replace the previous Evora 410 Sport.

Available in 2+2 or strict two-seater forms, the GT410 Sport is powered by a Toyota-derived 3.5-litre V6 engine fitted with an Edelbrock supercharger. This is then combined to either a six-speed manual or six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, driving the rear wheels through a Torsen limited-slip diff (manual only). Power is rated at 404bhp at 7000rpm with 309lb ft of torque from 3500rpm.

Utilising similar carbonfibre-rich bodywork to the GT430, the GT410’s sleeker silhouette is courtesy of subtly redesigned front and rear bumpers. Gone too are the deep canards and tall rear wing of the GT430, all contributing to an impressive 190mph top speed. Weight figures sit at 1297kg (unladen), but when fitted with the optional titanium exhaust and Öhlins TTX two-way dampers this can drop as low as 1256kg dry.

Performance is suitably impressive, the car reaching 60mph in 3.9sec (4.0 in the manual) and we expect that impeccable Lotus handling balance to be in full effect. Lotus offers two suspension options, including a no-cost touring pack or the aforementioned ‘Race suspension package’ with adjustable twin tube Öhlins dampers coming in at a hefty £5500.

Inside is the usual Lotus combination of a perfect driving position, terrible infotainment system and pleasing materials, although those thinking that the 2+2 will be able to attack the school run might be disappointed as there is barely enough room in the rear for the seats themselves.

Starting at £85,900, there is no doubt that the Evora still has an incredible natural ability to entertain, however at that price point rivals like the Porsche 911 Carrera make the Lotus and its quirks increasingly difficult to justify.
